Bring it: Goldie Hawn, Bette Midler, and Diane Keaton to reunite for movie, Family Jewels. Cynthia Nixon narrates this powerful video, “Be A Lady They Said,” which takes aim at all the contradictory messages targeting women today (and always). Ashely Judd, Tarana Burke and other key figures react to the guilty verdict for Harvey Weinstein, sparking an outpouring of support for all of the #SilenceBreakers. We’re trying not to panic about coronavirus, but it’s not easy. Katherine Johnson, the real life inspiration for Hidden Figures, died last week at age 101, may she rest in power. Would it really be such a terrible thing to have an angry woman as president? A very clever move by JIF peanut butter. Everything you need to know about apostrophes but were afraid to ask.

Sex in Stairwells: The Unlikely Place Where I Got My Groove Back
By Alix Courtney
"My head-trip dissolves by the third glass of wine. Then we’re kissing. It feels fast, even for an Internet date in a look-at-my-ass dress. But I’m on the rebound. I’m excused from reasonable behavior for at least another month. And the kissing, unlike the talking, is a conversation worth having. The heat from his palms goes straight through my back. His mouth, his hands, his thigh are all alive to my touch."

Obsessed: Golde Turmeric Tonics
(Images via Golde.co)
Nestled in the swag bag from last year’s Riveter Summit were a few small packets of Golde Turmeric Tonic. While pulling items out of the bag at home, I tossed a packet to my husband’s desk area and kept one for myself — the Cacao Turmeric Tonic. Per the directions I added the powder to some hot water, adding a little almond milk and some honey and plopped down for a little chill.
HOLY EFFING COW.
I mean when is the last time someone had a freak-out over what is essentially just tea? And yet...Cupping this steaming nectar, you’re seduced by an intoxicating steam of turmeric, ginger and a little black pepper, and then once you take a sip, well it’s like the best sort of rich, satisfying cacao-enhanced flavor, a little similar to a spicy Chai latte but 10 times better, more nuanced. I immediately snatched my husband’s packet before he even knew he had it — sorry honey — and the next morning tried the Matcha blend which adds the caffeine boost, a grassier flavor and nearly as yum.
Founded by Trinity Mouzon Wofford in 2016, Golde makes a few different wellness and beauty products, primarily focused around single-origin Turmeric, the super-food often recognized for its medicinal properties. And the Cacao, in particular, according to Golde’s site, “promotes the production of anandamide (aka "the bliss molecule") in the brain — yep, it's basically chocolate-y CBD.” Which explains my giddy MUST HAVE MORE reaction.
Suffice to say, my cabinets are well-stocked with the stuff and it’s become my afternoon alternative to a caffeine pick-me-up. Golde Turmeric Tonic Blends, $29 (30 servings) Golde.co

TueNight 10: Vanessa DeLuca
Vanessa with Angela Bassett at an Essence Black Women in Hollywood event
Age: 55
Basic bio: Vanessa is the Editor in Chief of ZORA magazine, a Medium publication by, for and about women of color. Last month they released the ZORA Canon, a curated compilation of 100 must-read books written by African-American women over the last 160 years.
Beyond the Bio: “I have one kid who's a sophomore in college, and one who's a junior in high school, so I don't feel that tug and pull of guilt about being a working mom the way I used to. It's still hard to accept that my children are this old, and that I am this old, but I'm powering through it.”
What makes you a grown-ass lady? “I spend little time apologizing for dipping out on invitations to events that I really don't want to attend anyway. I let my intuition/gut be my guide about what's worth the time and what isn't.”
1. On the nightstand: My cholesterol and high blood pressure medications; with my family's medical history, I need all the help I can get!
2. Can't stop/won't stop: Being a champion for women of color; we deserve so much more than what the mainstream thinks of us.
3. Jam of the minute: It's an oldie but goodie: "Grown Woman" by Beyonce
4. Thing I miss: Size 4
5. ’80s crush: Prince
6. Current crush: Prince
7. Latest fave find: A pair of leather gloves with fuzzy fur balls that were stuffed into my winter coat from last year — thought I lost them.
8. Last thing you lost: My phone — it was in between the cushions in my couch, so I found it eventually.
9. Best thing that happened recently: Someone said that I'm an elegant lady, and I blushed.
10. Looking forward to: My trip to Nashville in a few weeks — I love discovering a new city, especially one known for good food, good music and good whiskey.
We hope you love us, too! Share us with a friend.
