Good to see the 'Girlfriends' back together (Image via Bustle)
The ‘Girlfriends’ episode of ‘Blackish’ is a must-watch. Did we need a dark take on Oscar the Grouch? Yes, yes we did. We could not agree more that Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups are the best Halloween candy. Fashion geared toward women in menopause sounds pretty great. This Succession parody might be even better than the show itself. There are so many good reads in the Elle Women in Hollywood issue. Brandi Carlile performed all of Joni Mitchell’s Blue live. Say her name: Atatiana Jefferson.
Obsessed: Strawberry Crispy Squares
When it comes to breakfast, I’m usually a yogurt (or cottage cheese) and granola kind of girl. Or maybe even a couple soft boiled eggs and toast. I work from home, so I have the time to sit down and make myself something. Still, we keep a variety of breakfast bars around for times when I have to leave the house early, and especially for my teenage daughter who has to leave by 7:15AM to get to school on time. Until recently, I’ve been partial to the Dark Chocolate and Sea Salt Kind Bar, while she is more into a chewy chocolate chip bar. About a month ago, we made a breakfast bar discovery that blew both of our minds. The Made Good Strawberry Crispy Squares. The teen loves them because they taste kind of like a strawberry rice krispie treat. I love them because they bring me right back to the town pool of my youth, and the Good Humor Strawberry Shortcake bar I would often get from the ice cream truck. Added bonus: They’ve pulled some Jessica Seinfeld level voodoo trick of hiding the “nutrients of a serving of vegetables” in each square. The hard part is not eating the whole box!

Story: Hit the Dirt: Digging My Way Out of Loneliness
By Kim O'Donnel
The century-plus-old row home we’ve rented in Lancaster, PA, is newly rehabbed and renovated, with central air conditioning (woo hoo!). The light-filled kitchen is big and sparkly with new appliances, and there’s twice as much space as our shoebox of a townhouse in Seattle.
Our first night in the new place is a Sunday in July, and we collapse with the crossword on our bouncy blow-up bed. Early Monday, my husband, wasting not a second to acclimate himself to our strange surroundings, heads out on the highway to start his new job.
The lead-up to leaving Seattle was feverish and frenzied, an all-consuming race until the last dust bunny was shooed away. And just like that, you’re in an exit row, flying east to begin again. And wait.
