ICYMI…did you hear we’re throwing a party next month? You’re totally invited.

THIS WEEK

The L Word Generation Q
L Word: Generation Q is back! (Photo: Showtime).

📖 READ: She got a brand new pair of roller skates. Boxed stuffing or death. If you didn’t hate Twitter you weren’t there. The L Word: Generation Q unites millennials and Gen X. Widow Debbie Binner rocks her age. Veggie side dish advice from Smitten Kitchen. Delete Instagram (just for this week.) “Natural” women need hormones too.

👀 LOOK: Pink’s stunner of an Olivia tribute. Virginia Woolf’s statue of her own. Sarah’s daily uterus updates for Utah Sen. Mike Lee.

🎧 LISTEN: Sex educator Emily Nagoski wants you to Come As You Are. You don’t have to trauma clean.

🤣 LOL: Taylor Swift’s future Midnights. Lisa Simpson reviews fake Lisa Simpsons.

🛒 ADD TO CART: Michelle Obama’s hope for uncertain times. An ornament for the Wordle-obsessed. Be a good guest — bring these three things.

📺 WATCH

  • Now: Juliette Lewis joins Kumail Nanjani in Welcome to Chippendales. (Hulu)  Ticket to Paradise reunites Julia Roberts and George Clooney. (Amazon Prime)

  • Wednesday: Catherine Zeta-Jones’s glam spin as Morticia in Wednesday. (Netflix)

  • Thursday: Hoda, Savannah & Al host the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade broadcast. (NBC & Peacock) Aisha Tyler reprises Dr. Tara Gray on Criminal Minds: Evolution (Paramount Plus)

STORY: It Took My Mom’s Death to Lift the Burden of Being the Responsible One

By Mimi Ison

I’m in good company with this bunch of badass women: Beyoncé, Oprah, Hillary, and Taylor Swift. Why? Because I’m the #1 child, and #1 daughter in my family, just like them.

Birth order, which is not an exact science but has been researched for decades, shows that us firstborns tend to be type-A personalities with an intense fear of failure. It kills us to screw up, and that’s why we’re controlling, and approach anything new like it’s a chance to hug a cactus…

TN10: Sarah Monson, NFT Creator

Your age: 45

Basic bio: Sarah is a Gen-X woman, mom, wife, sister, and writer who started out in reality TV show casting (Survivor/The Bachelor) before moving on to ghostwriting TV commercials and music videos. She’s about to launch a Gen-X NFT collection that uses nostalgia for the past to help our generation forge ahead into the future of tech.

Beyond the bio: I used to pride myself on being a hearty Midwestener who could handle hard stuff. I am now focusing on ease, which is why I recently moved to Hawaii. It’s brutally expensive, and it’s not forever, but for now I get to enjoy warm night breezes and watching my daughter bury herself in the sand. But even in paradise shit happens. What I love about being over 40 is that I am basically invisible to the younger generations, which means they don’t see me coming. I just love surprising them.

What makes you a grown-ass lady?

I spent the first 40 years of my life loathing my body. But the last couple years, I have begun to embrace what I used to hate. Now, I just want to be healthy — at whatever size or shape that comes in. I would LOVE to go back and tell 10-year-old me, 21-year-old me, 32-year-old me: YOU ARE PERFECT the way you are. Also, invest in Apple.

Here’s her TueNight 10:

  1. On the nightstand: Bottle of water, ear plugs, fan (I cannot sleep without my Vornado), week-old cough drop shellacked to the wood, dust, and a great book called Story Genius about how to cut through the crap and write that novel!

  2. Can't stop/won’t stop: Laughing at farts.

  3. Jam of the minute: “This Woman’s Work” by Kate Bush. Obviously, her other song is all the rage right now, but this song has forever shooketh me. (Runner-up: “In Liverpool” by Suzanne Vega. “Tom’s Diner” is ok, but this song is magic.)

  4. Thing I miss: Driving a stick shift!

  5. ‘80s crush: Young Keanu Reeves.

  6. Current crush: Mature Keanu Reeves.

  7. Latest fav find: Crystals! For my 45th birthday I treated myself to a splurge at a crystal shop and really satisfied my teen witch dreams.

  8. Last thing you lost: MY RIGHT TO GET AN ABORTION.

  9. Best thing that happened recently: I went Ziplining!

  10. Looking forward to: Launching my NFT collection. I have always been a creative person, not a business person. So Gen-X NFTs are a big step for me. I have employees!! I have contracts!! I have meetings!! What started out as a seed of an idea based on my love of the ‘80s and my grunge-y teens years has blossomed into something really special that I am super proud of.

We’re thankful for carbs. And YOU, TueNighters!
