Thursday Thread: What makes your favorite vacation spot totally worth the trip?
Cape Cod, Massachusetts holds a special place in my heart — my husband and I spent an amazing two weeks there on our honeymoon. It's also where our four kiddos took their first steps on the sand and dipped their toes into “the warmer side” of Nantucket Sound.
We recently stumbled upon an amazing last-minute deal for a cozy cottage (just before the summer rush) and had a fantastic week at "The Cape" with our two oldest daughters and our soon-to-be son-in-law, marking our first summer vacation together in eight years!
We hit up all our favorite spots: checked out the jam kitchen in Sandwich, had a blast exploring our favorite beach, and spotted dolphins at Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge. And of course, spending quality time with my husband's New England fam and enjoying ice cream (for dinner) at the legendary Sundae School made it all the more unforgettable.
Time flew by way too fast (as vacations tend to do), and now I'm itching to get back there—although a part of me is still mentally soaking up those cozy Cape Cod vibes.

Hands down Fire Island, NY! I've been going since I was a kid, when my sister and I sold shells we painted to passersby coming back from the beach. In the years since, I've gone back for the day to get quick drunk on Rocket Fuels or a summer long share where we'd BBQ on the deck. Nothing compares to getting on that ferry and disembarking to the scent of cedar mixed with ocean, and the feel of sand on your bare feet along the carless streets. See also: taking an outdoor shower while looking up at the sky. Happy Place, for sure.
You spotted dolphins?????? Jealous! We did a whale watch out of P-town and had great humpback spotting!
