Your Age: 39
Basic bio: Laura Crain is the founder of and force behind Perry, the leading platform where women can gather knowledge, guidance, and support on all things perimenopause. As a “geriatric” millennial she is flabbergasted by how little awareness her generation has about what is coming next in their womanhood journeys — specifically, the perimenopause stage that might start as early as the mid-30s.
Beyond the bio: I grew up in Germany to a German mother and a Nigerian father. I am a big fan of Nigerian Nollywood movies. I have two little sons named after my cousins in Lagos.
What makes you a grown-ass lady?
I am still a year below 40, but what makes me a grown-ass woman is my passion for screaming perimenopause from the rooftops, when everyone thinks I am too young for that. Let me tell you, it is never too early!
Here’s Laura’s TueNight 10:
On the nightstand: The Perry Menopause Journal, a bottle of sparkling water made with Aarke and lip balm by C.O. Bigelow.
‘80s crush: David Hasselhoff ( he was big in Germany)
Current crush: Pharrell Williams
Latest fav find: A very niche Dutch perfume brand, Daily Aces.
Celebrating birthdays: I love a birthday breakfast with my family, with a lot of candy on the table and just sitting there for a long time and eating (maybe unwrapping a gift, lol) and then one drink in the evening (I can’t stomach more than that).
What you like/hate about getting older: You fall more and more in love with your real self. I really hate my light sleep and waking up with every little sound.
What you are most proud of: Building Perry and shining a light for my generation on what is coming next. And my family, of course, and my two amazing sons.
Thing I miss: Going out clubbing in Berlin until 8 a.m. and then having breakfast in the sunlight.
Best thing that happened recently: Launching our Perry Menopause Journal and hosting an amazing panel in NYC with menopause thought leaders and advocates in the space!
Looking forward to: Doing more of what I am doing right now, especially seeing Perry grow and more women being helped through community and sisterhood.
