Your Age: 72
Basic bio: Maryjane Fahey is a creative content director, writer and the founder of Glorious Broads, which celebrates fierce, unconventional women over 50. Her mission is to inspire older women to live full authentic lives with no limitations and younger women to live free of the fear of getting older.
Beyond the bio: I’ve never been as on fire as I am right now: Working on a TV show about (mostly hot) midlife sex, and a theater monologue about the unexpected liberation of caring less about nonsense.
What makes you a grown-ass lady?
I’m not afraid to try things. If I fail, I try something else. With less time in front of me, I have the courage to love better and work on the stuff that matters. Dig deep. And throw the bullshit behind me.
Here’s her TueNight 10:
On the nightstand: Girlhood by Melissa Febos, Pleasure Oil by Her Highness, and an overpriced candle.
Jam of the minute: I’ve got a Miles Davis obsession at the moment.
‘80s crush + current crush: Patti Smith; Pedro Pascal.
First job: The world’s absolute worst waitress; graduated to kick ass bartender.
What you like/hate about getting older: My FOMO is gone/hate that I get tired at 1a.m.
What’s a misconception about getting older: That you won’t give a shit about fucking. Soooo wrong.
What you are most proud of: My resilience. I was a big deal in an industry that vanished. And I restarted. Again and again.
Thing I miss: I miss the ability to stay out till dawn and still feel great the next day. Sigh.
Anything you’d like to do over: Yes. I should have managed my monies better.
Best thing that happened recently: I got to read my monologue on stage!
