OG scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis' last stand + who knew living in Jersey could be creepy AF + what's up with all the Barney hate?
Hey there, TueNighters! As you know, the TueNight team publishes an ah-mazing list of movie releases, series drops, and tv shows in our weekly The TueDo List newsletter.
Here in the Weekend Watch, we’re able to take a deeper dive into our recommendations and chat a little more about what we’re watching — we think it’s a fab feature and one that GALs in our community would enjoy reading, so we’re sending it (and opening up comments) to EVERYONE!
As always, thank you so much for your support!
Here are this week's picks:
Halloween Ends (Theaters) — TueNight fave Jamie Lee Curtis makes her last stand. After 45 years, the most acclaimed, revered horror franchise in film history reaches its epic, terrifying conclusion as Laurie Strode (JLC) faces off for the last time against the embodiment of evil, Michael Myers — only one of them will survive.
Either way, 63yo Jamie Lee Curtis is a total badass.
Hot Forever (Netflix) — Iliza Shlesinger’s new standup special looks hilarious. In her sixth special for Netflix, Shlesinger says you will “never look at a bra the same way again.”
I Love You, You Hate Me (Peacock) — an exploration of the spectacular rise and violent response to children's show character Barney the Dinosaur. The documentary traces Barney's grassroots beginnings, from the explosion of international Barneymania to the violent backlash the purple dinosaur received.
Love him or hate him: The PBS series “Barney & Friends” ran for 14 seasons between 1992 and 2010. Love/Hate explores how something so benign could generate venom of such epic proportions.
The Watcher (Netflix) — starring Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale. After the Brannock family moves into what was supposed to be their suburban dream home, it quickly becomes a living hell. Ominous letters from someone calling themself “The Watcher” are just the beginning as the neighborhood’s sinister secrets come spilling out — yep, sounds totally creepy.
This story is inspired by a real-life case involving a family and a house located in New Jersey, which makes it creepy AF!
High School | Season 1 (Amazon Freevee) — a story about finding your own identity—a journey made even more complicated when you have a twin whose own struggle and self-discovery so closely mimic your own. Told through a backdrop of ‘90s grunge and rave culture, the series weaves between parallel and discordant memories of twin sisters growing up down the hall from one another.
Megan Thee Stallion hosts and performs on SNL (NBC).
