Weekend Watch — 2/17/23
For the love of birds, neo-noir thrills + an immersive journey into sexuality, it's all Gucci...
Happy Friday, TueNighters! The weekend's here and you know what that means, right? Time to sit back, take a breath, and catch up with what’s on our watch list — LET’S GO!
Sharper (Apple TV+) — A con artist (Sebastian Stan) takes on Manhattan's billionaires (Julianne Moore, John Lithgow). No one is who they seem in Sharper, a neo-noir thriller of secrets and lies, set amongst New York City's bedrooms, barrooms and boardrooms. Characters compete for riches and power in a high-stakes game of ambition, greed, lust, and jealousy that will keep audiences guessing until the final moment.
Planet Sex With Cara Delevingne (Hulu) — Cara is an actress, one of the world’s most photographed people and an award-winning LGBTQ+ icon. On this immersive journey, she puts her mind and body on the line in search of answers regarding human sexuality, its joys, mysteries, and constantly changing nature. In every episode, she shares her own personal experiences. Uniquely unfiltered and authentic, there’s no limit on how far Cara’s willing to go to explore what makes us all human.
Gucci: Sex, Money and Power (Paramount+) — this feature-length documentary tells the inside story of one of fashion’s most dramatic falls, followed by a spectacular rise. Fashion House charts how a brand that in the mid’ 80s was in the gutter would in the 1990s ride through the most tumultuous decade in its 100-year history, emerging to become one of the most successful fashion brands ever.
Return to Seoul (Theaters) — on an impulse to reconnect with her origins, Freddie, 25, returns to South Korea for the first time, where she was born before being adopted and raised in France. The headstrong young woman starts looking for her biological parents in a country she knows so little about, taking her life in new and unexpected directions.
And the annual Great Backyard Bird Count is on — for four days (February 17-20, 2023) the world comes together for the love of birds. Over these four days, BirdCount.org invites people to spend time in their favorite places to watch, count, and report as many birds as they can find. These observations help scientists better understand global bird populations before one of their annual migrations.
Servant, which I to believe has jumped the shark, but I press on. Poker Face which is hands down my fave new show and the Woman King which is now on Netflix 🙌
