Hey there, TueNighters! As you know, the TueNight team publishes an ah-mazing list of movie releases, series drops, and tv shows in our weekly TueDo List newsletter.
Here in the Weekend Watch, we’re able to take a deeper dive into our recommendations and chat a little more about what we’re watching — so let’s go!
Here are our picks:
The 65th Grammy Awards hosted by Trevor Noah (CBS) — airs on Sunday with a special segment celebrating 50 years of Hip Hop showcasing performances from artists (past and present), including Honorary TueNighters: Missy Elliott, Queen Latifah (pictured above), and Salt-N-Pepa. Sounds like a fab show and we are here for it!
Fight the Power: How Hip Hop Changed the World (PBS) — Grammy-nominated rapper and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Chuck D of Public Enemy explores Hip Hop's political awakening over the last 50 years. With a host of rap stars and cultural commentators, he tracks Hip Hop's socially conscious roots. From The Message to Fight The Power 2020, he examines how Hip Hop has become "the Black CNN."
Pamela, a Love Story (Netflix) — through personal video and diaries, 55-year-old Pamela Anderson shares the story of her rise to fame, rocky romances, and infamous sex tape scandal. From a woman who oftentimes has been portrayed as a cartoon caricature, Pamela is taking control of her narrative… in her own words.
Pedro Pascal hosts SNL (Saturday on NBC) — seriously, this guy! From Narcos, Game of Thrones, and The Mandalorian… to the new post-apocalyptic series The Last of Us… José Pedro Balmaceda Pascal from Santiago, Chile is so hot right now and (based on this SNL teaser) we’re totally digging his quirky sense of humor.
