Hey there, TueNighters! As you know, the TueNight team publishes an ah-mazing list of movie releases, series drops, and tv shows in our weekly TueDo List newsletter.
Here in the Weekend Watch, we’re able to take a deeper dive into our recommendations and chat a little more about what we’re watching — LET’S GO!
Here are this week’s picks:
Yellowjackets | Season 2 (Showtime): Starring Melanie Lynskey, and Tawny Cypress, with Christina Ricci and Juliette Lewis. The story follows a team of wildly talented high school girls' soccer players who survive a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness. The Yellowjackets barely made it through summer, but now as winter begins to bite, we’ll see if hunger and desperation turn into full-on psychosis. Meanwhile, 25 years later, each survivor must determine if the darkness is coming for them or from them.
Wildflower (On Demand): Based on a true story, WILDFLOWER is a coming-of-age film that follows Bea Johnson (Kiernan Shipka) from birth to graduation as she navigates life with two neurodivergent parents and an extended family who can't quite agree on the best way to help. Kiernan Shipka, Alexandra Daddario, and TueNight fave Jean Smart star.
Waco: American Apocalypse (Netflix): This immersive three-part docuseries is the definitive account of what happened in Waco, Texas in 1993 when cult leader David Koresh faced off against the federal government in a bloody 51-day siege. Released to coincide with the 30th anniversary of this national tragedy, the series features exclusive access to recently unearthed videotapes filmed inside the FBI's Hostage Negotiation Command Post, as well as raw news footage never released to the American public, and FBI wiretap recordings.
Succession | Season 4 Series Finale (HBO Max): In the fourth and final season, the sale of media conglomerate Waystar Royco moves ever closer, provoking existential angst and familial division among the Roys as they anticipate what their lives will look like once the deal is complete. A power struggle ensues as the family weighs up a future where their cultural and political weight is severely curtailed. Series stars Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong, Kieran Culkin and Sarah Snook.
The Martha Mitchell Effect (Netflix): She was once as famous as Jackie O. And then she tried to take down a President. An archival documentary portrait of the unlikeliest of whistleblowers: Martha Mitchell, a Republican cabinet wife who was gaslighted by the Nixon Administration to keep her quiet. It offers a female gaze on Watergate through the voice of the woman herself. From directors Anne Alvergue and Debra McClutchy.
Look forward to this every weekend 🙏🏼♥️
I want to watch everything on this list!
