Good things, for sure. But my mind is reeling more than usual.

My eldest came to me and told me they were having mental health issue because their outside doesn’t match their inside. They came out as NB on Coming Out Day but presents as masculine. It was so hard to hear. My ex and I are working on finding a therapist to help work through these feelings. I’m also working on solutions to their body image issues. Couple that with their diagnosis yesterday of shingles (at 17!!) and I’m feeling at a loss because I want to help but feel overwhelmed.

Oh Ruth, that is so much and I know how hard this must be for you. It’s physically painful to see (and know) when are kids are suffering. The support your providing them is priceless and I’m sure your eldest knows that, too - you’re an amazing Momma, my friend.

Shingles, on the other hand, is the devil. I hope they get well soon. ❤️

Yikes, shingles? (That was the easiest part to reply to.) Sending much love and empathy your way. My youngest came out as gender fluid this past summer and more recently shared she identifies as trans. It is overwhelming and we've been lucky to connect with lots of resources locally, including support groups for her and for us as parents.

It is so overwhelming! I have many friends here with trans kids, so I’m reaching out to them.

I learned a good friend just passed away this morning — he was the "Fred" in my friend Shelly and my B-52s fandom. One of those bright lights that you can't believe could possibly be extinguished. So I'm sad but sitting in my grief a bit and remembering some really hilarious times with him.

I euthanized my Rottweiler and best friend of ten years on Tuesday. His cancer came back right before Christmas and he went downhill rapidly. Still feeling numb and lost while also relieved that he isn't suffering anymore.

So sorry Katie - I’ve been there. It’s so so hard to do but I’m sure you did the right thing and he’s at peace. But it’s losing a family member. Sending you love.

Oh Katie, I’m so sorry to hear this. Losing our fur babies sucks - they are so much better than their human counterparts in many ways - sending so much love to you. ❤️
