Do you read books? I asked in a Facebook group if people had read a certain fun book, and about a dozen different commenters chimed in, "It's a show. It's pretty good." LOL, I felt like they were correcting me, and I wanted to say, "No. It's a book." Of course I did not. I think eventually there was one person who said she intended to read the book. I saw in an article about book publishing that hardly anyone reads books -- that Facebook thread reminded me of it. I'm the opposite in that I can almost never get myself to sit down and watch anything. Even if I intend to!
I prefer reading. If I read it, I'm likely to never watch it because it always disappoints me (example: saw just a preview of the first Harry Potter movie and it wasn't what I had in my head since I'd already read the series to that point). Let us know what you're reading!! I'm a member of a book club too. We read lots of books but tend toward biographies, novels, and social justice-y topics. A really good recent one I could not put down was Dinners with Ruth: A Memoir on the Power of Friendships, by Nina Totenberg;
The book I asked the FB group about was "Daisy Jones & the Six," which I enjoyed. I'm a music fan and always speculating on interpersonal stuff within bands I like -- how hard it must be to have personal problems in a public life -- and that's what this novel was doing too. ... Now I've started reading "The Dolphin Letters," letters between writers E. Hardwick and R Lowell during their divorce in the 70s.
The Dolphin Letters sounds interesting. . .often I find it easier to communicate in writing when in disagreement with someone, especially my spouse. Interestingly, Dinners with Ruth talks a lot about how two high-profile people manage a personal relationship with each other yet still are able to keep things private. Daisy Jones & the Six sounds like it was a good read. There is not enough time to read all the good books!!! After your description of it, I thought of the Chix and Fleetwood Mac and how difficult it must be to be always "public."
I read books. I also watch shows. ;-) I did not enjoy Taylor Jenkins Reid's "Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo" (book), but found the Netflix adaptation of Daisy Jones (show) to be a masterclass of plotting and building tension. At the moment, I'm reading Middlemarch (it's a slog, but I'm invested in the characters and have laughed out loud. I've also highlighted many instances of Eliot's feminist POV.
Haha "No, it's a book!" SAD. I read books, yes I do. Not as much as I would like to or should, though. I really wish Substack allowed for photos so we could SHOW our bedside tables. Right now I am reading Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler who I am obsessed with. Next up: Girls They Write Songs About by Carlene Bauer. I stopped reading Daisy Jones & the Six because I couldn't get into it! Should I keep trying?
I also thought Daisy Jones started out a little slow because of the "interview" conceit, but just like a successful band, when it gets spun up it's intense! I recommend you keep trying, but that's just me!
After getting laid off unexpectedly last year, I decided I'd worked long enough for others and opened my own menopause coaching business. I'm curious, what would make you want to sign up for a menopause coach? Anything? I think I'm realizing that 1) some women don't know that menopause coaching is a thing and 2) other think they can soldier through it on their own. Is this the case for you? Your answers will really help me as I want to serve as many women as I can (and of course I want to also earning a living!). Thank you!

I bet I'd like Dinners with Ruth.
I think Daisy Jones may be based on Fleetwood Mac to some extent, or at least I've heard people say so.

I love the Parable books. I should reread them.
