My 8-year-old daughter asks me if kids teased me at school when I was younger. When I ask her if she is being teased at school, all she will tell me is “sometimes.” Then I wonder: are her classmates teasing her because of her imagination?
When I read this beautiful piece, I identified so much with your experiences in school. I lived a lot of them too. My daughter is almost 40 now, but I encouraged her creativity too. She could be a mermaid, a witch, or a clown. Whatever made her happy.
I love to hear that she is almost 40 now. I've wanted to do an update to this piece but it isn't my story to tell. Mine has barely made it to 17 and I just pray she keeps seeing each year of life as a blessing. I appreciate hearing from you.
