for my entire adult life I've been actively involved with Collective Power for Reproductive Justice (https://collectivepowerrj.org) -- and serve on its board. why it matters to me: we have worked for decades to grow the reproductive justice movement, through education and an incredible conference (you can come!), paid internships, cohorts of young professionals in a field that doesn't get enough cohort support, and so much more. note in the link to our organization that internship applications are open in case you have students (or others) who are looking for an important summer. in one sentence, collective power reminds me never to be hopeless.

I love to give donations as gifts for Christmas and Chanukah and naturally like to donate to support my own pet causes of abortion access and Reproductive rights and Justice. Here are a few faves: your state's abortion access fund (NYAAF, eg), the Center for Reproductive Rights, Elevated Access, Whole Woman's Health, The Yellowhammer Fund, The Brigid Alliance, and Aid Access.

Tabby's Place is a cat sanctuary for the most desperate and fragile: Special Needs cats, little ones who ran out of time everywhere else, "difficult" cats who make others turn away. But they take this rather intense mission and turn it into a joyous, magical community of love for cats AND people. Their cage-free environment is a "sanctuary" in the broadest sense of the word. And they have saved 4,000+ cats over the past 20 years! They love cats and people with ferocious tenderness, which strikes me as precisely what our brokenhearted world needs.

Full disclosure: Tabby's Place has also been my heart's sanctuary for the past 16+ years. It is the joy of my life serving as writer and Development Director for this exuberant outpost of love!
