I crawled my way to 50, having just completed an aggressive course of chemo for invasive breast cancer. It was a sweet day filled with naps and not a whole lot more. I no longer agonize about the number. I’m just thrilled to be here to mark the occasion!

A week before my 50th I pushed my then BF out. He had been having a 3-year long affair and I was done. Then 5 days before, my building found bedbugs in my neighbor's apartment, so on the actual day, I spent bagging all my clothes and preparing my home for the fumigation. Looking forward to a better 60th if I make it that far!

I marked the first anniversary of my 50th birthday (spent isolating due to COVID) by having 50 friends over for dinner and drinks—at one point i just stood in the middle of my living room, teary-eyed at the sound of my empty house finally filled with laughter and conversation and clinking glasses again

I rented a house at the Coast w/ my good friend and her new bf (now ex, thankfully) were coming for the rest of the weekend. We got there early with our dogs, went for a walk on the beach and were watching the waves while sitting on the dunes. My bf proposed and we were married 2 months later in the backyard of the house we had bought 6 months earlier. It was a hectic but joyful time celebrating making it through 2 divorces (as friends) and 1 almost fatal stroke (my now husband's). 2nd half is off to a good start....

I celebrated 50 with a 3-city tour playing guitar in a band I played in back in my 20's!

I'm turning 50 tomorrow! I'll be finishing up my school year with 8th graders - then I'll probably head to my local pub and have a beer and a pizza with my husband. Meet some friends there and raise a glass to our imperfect small town life and its mundane beauty. Bring on 50, baby!
